This explains what Phage (the Discord bot) and phagebot.app store, why, for how long, and how to get it deleted. The short version: Phage keeps what its features need, doesn’t sell anything, shows no ads, and this website doesn’t track you.

This website

phagebot.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Like any web server, ours briefly sees your IP address to deliver the page. Our hosting and Cloudflare (which protects the site) may keep short-lived technical logs.

The dashboard (dashboard.phagebot.app) uses one login cookie after you sign in with Discord. It asks Discord for your username, avatar and list of servers, only to show you the servers you can manage. That information is kept in memory while you’re logged in and isn’t saved.

What the bot stores

Everything is linked to Discord IDs (long numbers that identify a user, server, channel or message), not to names or email addresses. Data is stored per server, so your XP in one server is separate from another.

  • Leveling: your XP, level, and when you last earned XP.
  • Economy (ATP): your balance, total earned, when you last claimed rewards, a history of each ATP transaction (amount, type and time), and items you own.
  • Birthdays: the month and day you set, and the year only if you choose to add it.
  • Quotes: the text of messages someone saved as a quote, who wrote it, who saved it, and where it was posted.
  • Social: marriages, “family” links and weekly “wives” between members.
  • Voice transcripts: only in servers that turn transcription on: the text transcript of each voice message, who sent it, where, and how long it was.
  • Command log: each command you run, with what you typed after it and when. Deleted after 30 days.
  • Moderation: warnings, timeouts, kicks and bans, with the reason and which moderator did it.
  • Music: songs played and who requested them.
  • Booster roles: the custom role a booster created.
  • Polls: questions and anonymous answers. Voters are stored only as a scrambled code (a salted hash) to stop double voting, and answers are never linked to who gave them.
  • Server settings: the server ID, prefix, channel and role choices, leveling and booster settings, autoresponses, reaction role menus, and which features are on, plus the ID of whoever created autoresponses and role menus.

What the bot doesn’t store

Phage reads messages so it can respond to commands, award XP and run autoresponses, but it doesn’t save message content except the quotes and transcripts listed above. The top chatters command reads channel history when asked and keeps the result in memory for 10 minutes. The mod log posts edits and deletions to a channel your server chooses but doesn’t save them itself. Games are kept in memory only.

Why it’s stored

Only to make features work: so your level, balance, birthday and quotes are still there tomorrow, so moderators can see past actions, and so server staff can see recent command usage in the dashboard. We don’t use it for advertising or profiling.

How long it’s kept

  • Command log: deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Everything else: kept while Phage is in the server. When Phage is removed from a server, all of that server’s data is deleted automatically 30 days later. The delay is in case it was removed by mistake.
  • Sooner: ask us any time, see below.

Getting your data deleted

Ask in the support server or email us, and tell us your Discord user ID (and the server, if it’s about one server). We’ll delete it. Server owners can also ask us to delete a whole server’s data straight away.

Services Phage uses

Some features send a small amount of information to other services:

  • Discord: Phage runs on Discord, and Discord’s own privacy policy applies to everything you do there.
  • OpenAI: voice message audio, in servers that turn transcription on, so it can be transcribed.
  • Anthropic (Claude): the zodiac sign and the generic daily horoscope, to add flavor text. Nothing about you is sent.
  • Free Horoscope API: the zodiac sign you ask about.
  • Dictionary API, Urban Dictionary, Wikipedia: the word or search you look up.
  • YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify: song searches for the music player.
  • Meme API: used to fetch images for the memory game. Nothing about you is sent.

Planned: Mood Music will use Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and song.link to find songs. This page will be updated before it launches.

Selling, ads and age

We never sell or rent your data, and Phage has no ads. Phage follows Discord’s minimum age (13 in most countries). If you’re not old enough to use Discord, please don’t use Phage.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and mention it in the support server.
